The Jean Monnet Module “Educational and social policies for a Europe of the common good” seeks to fill a gap in the training offer of the University of León. Thus, this module aims to show and critically analyze the main measures that the European Union is implementing to advance towards a more just society in social, educational, cultural, environmental, wealth distribution and reduction of inequalities, etc. aspects.

To do so, we will have expert speakers from different academic disciplines (education, sociology, history, economics, environmental sciences, political sciences, etc.) and from different geographical contexts (Spain, United Kingdom, Norway, Mexico, Australia, etc.). In each of the sessions, the teaching team will address the possibilities, good practices of the European Union policies; but also what are the limitations, areas for improvement and alternatives within and outside the European strategy for achieving a society based on the common good. The module is structured in 11 face-to-face sessions, which will take place in the Conference Room of the San Isidoro Library on the Vegazana Campus. The sessions will be held from 4 to 8 pm. The methodology of the sessions combines keynote lectures with debate and group work sessions between the participants and the speakers who will develop the sessions.

This module is of interest to undergraduate and graduate university students, as well as to all those interested in learning how the European strategy for social cohesion works. Registration is done through the following link and there is a limit of 30 places in order of registration. Participation in the module sessions and the delivery of the final work will be certified with 80 hours and with a recognition of 3.6 ECTS credits.
