Sherman Farhad

She holds a degree in Economics and a PhD in Environment and Society. She is a Permanent Labor Professor in the Department of Economics and Statistics at the University of León in the area of ​​Applied Economics.

She is part of the Applied Economics Research Group (GIEA) at the University of León and the Social Research and Participatory Action Group (GISAP) at the Pablo de Olavide University of Seville. Her research work has a transdisciplinary approach, focusing on ecological economics, covering topics such as socio-ecosystems, environmental governance, socio-ecological resilience, ecosystem services and transformation towards Sustainability.

She has participated in several research projects both nationally and internationally in Spain and Canada. She has taught face-to-face and online classes, in Spanish and English, in undergraduate and master’s programs at various universities in Spain and Canada, in subjects related to economics and the environment. In addition, she collaborates as an associate professor with Brock University (Canada). She has carried out predoctoral and postdoctoral research stays in Canada. Since 2013, she has been a member of the Commission on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy (CEESP) of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
